We ‘ve known for a while that the iPhone 3GS was jailbreakable. The Dev Team has said as much, but has been holding off on releasing their jailbreak for it as part of their ongoing ‘cat and mouse ‘ type manoeuvering and efforts to stay a step ahead of Apple when it comes to discovering (and Apple then patching) vulnerabilities in the iPhone.
Over the last few days a 3GS jailbreak developed by GeoHot and others has been released. It ‘s called PurpleRa1n and it appears to be packaged up pretty nicely, so that it is very straightforward to apply. Check out iClarified ‘s post HERE for download and installation instructions.
I ‘ve not been a very frequent or keen jailbreaker for a while now, and with the speedy and rock-solid performance I ‘m seeing from the 3GS, I ‘m really not tempted at all just now “ but I ‘m happy to see that it ‘s there for the doing if the mood should strike.
