Copy Share is the most exciting new iPhone app I ‘ve seen in a long while. It lets you share your clipboards “ in other words, easily copy and paste items “ between multiple iPhones, iPod Touches, and Macs.
I ‘ve been testing and playing with the app for a while today, sharing between a V1 and 3GS iPhone, and between iPhone and Mac in both directions – and I can tell you it is very well done, very slick, and I am already thinking of lots of ways in which it will be a huge help to me.
Here ‘s how it works:
You install Copy Share on your iPhone. If you want to share with a Mac, download the free desktop app for Mac, from http://edlea.net/copyshare
Launch Copy Share on the iPhone, and on the desktop.
You ‘ll be prompted to enter a PIN shown on the Mac ‘s version of the app, into the space provided on the iPhone app. This will need to be done each time you want to add a new sharing partner “ for example, another iPhone.
That ‘s it for setup. From there on, when you copy something on the Mac “ let ‘s say a website URL “ you can instantly open Copy Share on the iPhone, choose to view the Mac ‘s clipboard and see the copied URL there “and available for pasting straight into Safari on the iPhone.
Or try copying a picture from the Mac over to your iPhone. Again, as soon as you ‘ve hit copy, it is available on the shared clipboard over on the iPhone “ and from there can be copied straight into an app on the iPhone, for example a new email, or saved to your Photo Library
Copying is just as easy and instant in both directions. If you choose to copy an image in your Camera Roll on the iPhone, it will instantly appear for sharing within Copy Share “ and once you copy it from there, you can instantly paste it into an app across on your Mac, or on a second iPhone that you ‘re sharing with.
When copying an image from the iPhone across to a Mac, you get the full-size, higher-quality image “ rather than the scaled-down version you would via email.
This app makes it 100% simple and painless to share text and images between multiple iPhones or between iPhone and Mac. I live in a household with 3 iPhones and one Mac and this program will be incredibly useful for all of us, and in a number of ways I imagine. Just for starters:
I cannot think of any faster and simpler photo sharing method (though not for batches of images of course).
Probably the fastest way to shoot a URL over to your Mac (or your iPhone) “ with no need to open a new mail and wait on sending etc.
Same thing for quickly sharing a phone number, or a chunk of text you want to share, or just review later on.
This is honestly the most exciting new iPhone app I ‘ve seen since I ‘m not sure when. 🙂
