iPhone 3GS Ranked #1 in Japan Cell Phone Sales

TUAW is reporting, that the iPhone 3GS is the #1 selling cellphone in Japan as of this writing.

BNC, a Japanese market research company, ranks the iPhone 3GS 32GB in first place, and the 16GB model in second place. The 3GS was introduced in Japan on June 26th, and the sales figures are from the week of June 22 – 28.

This means in it’s first week on sale in Japan the iPhone 3GS did really well, considering how American electronics have a tendency to not sell as well in Japan as they do elsewhere.
