I had issues before like you. AND now too. Actually just noticed it today 🙁 Before I tried everything and then all of a sudden after about 3 weeks it stopped? I figured it was on Apple's server side.

In reply to Rand. Hmmm - not sure I follow all the way. I'm definitely not seeing any app updates show up again after they've been applied (which I did see back in March when this issue was far more severe).

I've been noticing a bunch of apps getting re-queued up for download when they are not changing version number. What I have noticed is that this appears to happen when they add the "iPhone OS 3.0 Tested" label to the app. (You'll notice that all the apps listed on your screenshot now have those words after the version number.) I believe that as official test results come in, Apple is tagging those applications and triggering the update. I haven't seen repeated re-downloads of apps lately once they have been tagged as tested with OS 3.0.

Good call – I haven't actually synced in a while. Will give it a go – although I do recall that when this issue was at its height in March, no amount of syncing, uninstalling, re-installing, device restarting etc. was fixing it.

Not only THAT but I am also getting gray icons that say "waiting.." and render my apps useless. I have 7 of them, after my 3rd restart it actually fixed all my OTHER swapped icon and effed up app icons and then placed the gray ones at the end. I also can't download anymore apps because it is waiting on the others to download….

plugging into your mac and sycing with iTunes usually gets the device back on track. I've had your experiences and susannah's, and doing it off the desktop (check for updates, download all to the Mac, then sync the phone) fixes the issues and gets everyone back on track…

i also had those update issues in the spring. now i'm also having some app update weirdness, but mine is a bit different. my 3gs tells me i should update sportacular, facebook, and epicurious — but when i try to install the updates, i get a "cannot connect to itunes store" error. i've had this issue for about a week. as those three apps sit on the update page in the app store, i've since received and installed other valid updates. i just can't seem to get rid of the those three bum updates. ideas?
