Documents To Go for iPhone Updated – Adds OS 3.0 Copy&Paste, Sending Files By Email & More

DTGUpdate

Documents To Go for iPhone has only been out for a couple of weeks, but it has already got an update with some pretty major new features added “ features that I get the impression many users of DTG thought should have been there from the outset.

In any case, the features in question are there now, in the new Version 1.1 of the app “ and they include implementation of the iPhone OS 3.0 copy & paste (instead of the app ‘s own version of it), pinch zoom in Word files, and the ability to send files via email.

Read on for the full rundown on new additions

Here ‘s the complete listing of new features, per an email from DataViz (makers of DTG):

Six great reasons to get the update to Version 1.1 if you haven’t already…

1) iPhone OS 3.0 Cut, Copy, Paste

We have moved from the selection "loop" to iPhone OS 3.0’s new selection "pins" method. You can now cut, copy and paste between Documents To Go v.1.1 and ANY APPS supporting the OS v3.0 Cut, Copy, Paste. For users who remain on OS v2.2 and update to Documents To Go 1.1, the software will detect the OS and use the 1.0 style of DocsToGo-only Cut, Copy, Paste. To review, there are several ways to select text in a Word doc/docx file in Documents To Go…

Double tap to select a single word. Triple tap to select an entire paragraph.

Once a word or paragraph is selected, you can move the "pins" to expand or contract your selection.

2) Pinch Zoom in Word Files

The 1.1 update adds the familiar iPhone OS "pinch" zooming while you are viewing and editing Word files on the device. We removed the (now unnecessary) zoom toolbar option.

3) Full Screen View in Word

Now editing documents is even easier (especially in landscape mode) thanks to the ability to hide the title bar and the toolbar for more screen real estate. The new "Full Screen" icon toggles the toolbar and document title bar on and off.

Mini Floating icons allow you to toggle the toolbar AND/OR keyboard on and off in both portrait and landscape mode.

4) Sending Files via Email (in non-Microsoft Exchange Attachment version only)

For iPhone OS 3.0 devices, you can now share documents you are working on by sending them as attachments using your existing email accounts like Gmail, Yahoo, MobileMe, etc. We expect to add this to the Microsoft Exchange Attachment version of Documents To Go soon as well. Users of that version can already send files via their Exchange email accounts.

With a document opened, select the "Send" icon on the toolbar to attach the file.

5) Viewing iWork 09 Files

Utilizing the built-in iPhone OS Viewers, you can now sync and view iWork 09 files from your Mac.

6) Updated Desktop Sync Software

Be sure to click on the "Check for Updates" link on the main screen of the Documents To Go Desktop software (PC and Mac). There have been a few updates since launch including one posted as recently as July 9th. As a purchased user, if you have yet to install the unique 2-way desktop sync software, you can also go directly to: http://www.dataviz.com/iphoneinstaller
