This is not an app that lets you add content of your choice to it. You get what the app delivers. For adding your own content you need to look to apps like Stanza, Kindle, Eucalyptus and others. There are also quite a few good standalone books for kids available in the App Store.

I would like to get my daughter involved in reading more and she has an iPod Touch and I just think she is on it long enough, she might as well be learning something too.

I agree. I've also found it a useful little Intro to some great books for my daughter.

The efforts the developers put in designing the shelf, the opportunity to move the books around, the sound of turning pages, the old-fashioned bookmark … that more than outweights the price of 99 Cents for me. A real Classic.

I've used Stanza and like it, and I know many folks love it. I find Classics an easier, slightly more elegant package to work with for some of these great works – but Stanza is a very worthy app.

I think it's a very personal thing as to whether you enjoy reading books on the iPhone. I like it, and have several good reader apps that I use, including Kindle, Classics (with my daughter mainly), Eucalyptus, and the AudioBook Player for listening to free audio books.

I've been thinking about getting a sony reader but might just get this app. It's a darn sight cheaper too!
