The popular VOIP and IM client Fring, adds itself to the list of push notification apps now on the App Store.
As a Skype user, I am frustrated not to have a Skype friendly client to receive messages when I am offline. Nimbuzz recently added this feature but only allows notifications for 30 minutes after closing the app.
But now, as reported over at Appadvice, Fring allows Skype notifications for up to 6-8 hours (along with MSN Messenger, Google Talk, AIM, Yahoo!, ICQ, Twitter, and SIP notifications). Once a notification is received, it arrives in the form of a badge as well as an alert plus sound, which is configurable in your settings. The alert doesn ‘t display the actual message but a dialog box which will take you directly to the message to read and reply.
As this is a free VOIP and IM client, its a simple choice if you can ‘t wait for Skype to finally add push.
