If you grew up reading Sports Illustrated and looking forward to one particular issue each year to brighten up every cold February, here ‘s an app that you might very quickly blow $2.99 on. SI Swimsuit 2009 is trailing several months behind its printed namesake, but I imagine it will still be a very welcome site for iPhone-owning fans of the swimsuit issue.
The app offers pretty much exactly what you ‘d expect from it. For a start, you get an age rating alert when you purchase it “ letting you know that it is rated as 17+ content.
I know that drawing lines and making judgements on what constitutes porn vs what is just provocative and sexy is a subject of never-ending debate “ but I ‘ve always placed the SI Swimsuit issue firmly in the not porn at all category. I think all the issues I ‘ve ever seen have featured very tasteful and beautiful shots of some amazing women, taken by some top class photographers.
Anyway, here ‘s one thing I didn ‘t expect from the app. They ‘ve thrown in an ability to arrange which models are featured on which month of the app ‘s calendar, and something about setting up your favorite teams. I failed at researching how these elements work, as I was focused on seeing the heart of the app ‘s content “ but hey, I ‘ve mentioned them, so you all can delve into exactly how those work, and let us know.
Each month in the app ‘s calendar features a different model, and a lot of rotating images of her. The rotation can be paused, and you can manually move back and forward amongst the image set. You can also browse through the different months / models easily.

The app also features videos of the photo shoots, including some with the amazing looking bodypainted swimsuits.
I think it ‘s pretty safe to say that if you ‘re a fan of the SI Swimsuit Issue you ‘re likely to appreciate this app. It ‘s well executed and full of all the content you ‘d expect from it.
