I have had the juice pack air for more than 6 months. I try to leave it on as much as possible but despit that it has scratched the crap out of the back of my iPhone. Long deep scratches. So deep and wide that if I pas my finger nail over it I feel the relief!

A scratch!!! Oh my God! I'll slash my wrists for you. The phone is what is inside the original casing. The casing is supposed to protect the actual phone. I think I actually ahve tried that one out, but for the 2G. There's a review on this site as well. That one also scared me a bit because of how tight the fight was — especially with that spring. It was like an iron maiden. Ok, not really 🙂

This is why I chose the iPower http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16083 yeah it's some knockoff from Hong Kong but come on, $25, free shipping, 2400mAh. I've had one for 4 months and its been great the whole time. Not as sleek (holds the iphone in with a spring loaded top and by the USB connector in the bottom) and gives some vignetting on the camera but man oh man do I love it.

That sucks though that it scratched the phone – definitely not a good thing at all and something I think Mophie should know about.

actually it's even smaller than a mini-USB port. Most other smartphones and batteries charge from mini USb, but this one is micro … i and it's not even that much smaller .But it does mean that all the stuff that I have is incompatible.

I like the Mophie air, but it has scratched the back on my iPhone 3GS and where the top and bottom meet on side doesn't fit right ( it is a little bowed out).

I agree fully. I actually received this as a gift and was excited to use it, but charging with the mini USB sucks. I have the universal iPod cables all over my house and office so finding a cable to charge with is easy, but being forced to use the mini USB is too much of an annoyance since as you said, taking the case out of here is no easy chore.
