Suffering with buggered up icons under iPhone OS 3.0? Looking for some sort of news or support on the issue? Well hey “ there ‘s a little of that available via an email sent out to users yesterday.
Not from Apple of course, who still haven ‘t acknowledged this widely-known bug “ but from the developers of an individual iPhone app whose users have been affected, Truphone. There are no new or revolutionary fixes suggested, but it good to see someone telling users something on this subject.
The email sent by Truphone does include a recommended fix, which is one I have seen mentioned in forums and elsewhere, and which I believe has only mixed success:
Apple have not released a fix for the bugs yet, so if you are experiencing this Apple bug for any application (not just when Truphone is affected), we recommend the following fix:
Step 1 – Go to the Applications section of iTunes on your iPhone/iPod Touch and un-tick the affected application
Step 2 – Sync your iPhone / iPod Touch
Step 3 – Go back into the Applications section of iTunes on your iPhone/iPod Touch and re-tick the relevant application
Step 4 – Sync your iPhone/iPod Touch again
This should resolve this bug, however results are not guaranteed, as this is not an official Apple bug fix.
Most impressively, Truphone even offers up a reminder of all their international support phone numbers at the end of their mail, and asks users to contact them for further support if the above-suggested fix does not work for them.
Nice work by Truphone. Is it too much to hope that Apple might deign to say something on this subject soon, let us know if a fix is forthcoming in firmware 3.1?
