Evernote for iPhone updated to 3.1: the elephant got even faster

Evernote 3.1The greatest (okay, so it’s my favourite) note-taking app to ever have an elephant in its logo was updated to 3.1 last night. The major change this time around is another speed increase. If they keep up with these kinds of updates, they might have to change their logo to a cheetah (ohhh so clever…).

I usually see a big difference in Evernote updates, but my internet access has been so horrendously slow these past two weeks that it’s been hard to really tell. Evernote loads up in about one second in 3.1, and the notes sync almost instantaneously to the 3GS (and in about one second on the 2G). Other features of the update include:

  • faster camera-notes (taking them and uploading from camera roll)
  • web clipper within the Evernote mini browser (I had no idea Evernote had a built-in browser!)
  • easier access to Evernote e-mail address from the Accounts tab
  • a manual sync button

Overall a good little update, but I’m still waiting on a better editing interface on the iPhone. I don’t think we’ll be seeing any rich text editing (for bold, italics, etc.) for a while because of the iPhone SDK, but a more stream-lined interface would be just dandy. That’s supposed to be coming in the next few months if I heard their podcast correctly.
