Alex and the guys at KRAPPS do a great job covering some of the bizarre and, sometimes, flat-out nasty residents of the App Store.  Today they ‘ve got a post up that details one of the most horrible examples of nastiness that somehow gets into the store that I ‘ve seen yet.

What ‘s even more disturbing than the aforementioned hardcore porno images, are the pictures of young children also found within the Check myHottie app. By young, we don ‘t mean sixteen years old rather in the five to twelve year old range. To be clear, there are NO nude underage pictures however, the fact that these children are on display with hardcore pornography, coupled with the fact their images are receiving sexually orientated comments, is absolutely sick and disgusting (even the users of Check myHottie are offended by the images).

Apparently the reason that this app has escaped attention thus far is that all of its horrific content is user-generated, and thus does not require approval by Apple.  It is supposed to have its own in-built system for flagging anything that might match Apple ‘s ‘objectionable content ‘ label.  Clearly, that is absolutely not working.

I ‘m a big fan of the KRAPPS site “ they make me laugh with their scathing coverage of some crappy, but generally harmless, apps.  And then once in a while, as when they broke the Baby Shaker story, they point out how horribly wrong things can go in the App Store when Apple is just not managing it well enough.

Today is another of those days.  Reading their post on the CheckMyHottie app, just makes me very sad, and more than a little frustrated.  As a father, hell as a just a person walking round on this planet, it sickens me to see this kind of ugly, ugly stuff get into the App Store.

How on earth Apple ‘s crack reviews team can manage to stay sharp on labeling all those highly dangerous dictionary and Wikipedia apps with a 17+ warning, but miss the disgusting content being thrown up by this shitty app is beyond me.

If you want more of the gory details on the app, check out KRAPPS ‘ post HERE.
