iFlashReady – Add a virtual flash effect to iPhone photos

I recently took some photos on an overcast day using my iPhone ‘s camera that turned out to be underexposed and darker than I ‘d prefer. I usually just load my photos onto my Mac and use iPhoto to enhance and correct the exposure and levels of photos before publishing them. But this time I was out of town without easy access to my computer, and I wanted to email a few photos to a friend, so I needed to correct the exposure of the photo while it was still on the iPhone.

Enter iFlashReady from Imaging Luminary, LLC. iFlashReady adds a software-based flash to the iPhone ‘s camera helping to overcome the lack of a built-in flash. Rather than adjusting the photo ‘s overall levels, iFlashReady analyzes every pixel, and using an innovative algorithm specifically designed for the iPhone ‘s camera, intelligently lightens up each pixel to an individually differentiated level.

The result is an image that actually looks like it was taken with a camera using a flash. The underexposed parts of the image are lightened without over-enhancing the lighter areas of the image. iFlashReady has three different flash levels (flash, more flash, high flash) that you can choose and view the result on-the-fly before applying it to your image.

The most recent update to iFlashReady also added two special effects, black-and-white and sepia, both of which work in tandem with the flash choices.

I ‘m very impressed with the outcome of my photos, especially those taken indoors or on darker days, after I ‘ve added the virtual-flash effect using iFlashReady. I ‘ve added this app to my arsenal of iPhone photography apps, and expect to get some regular use from it.

iFlashReady can be found in the iPhone App Store here and is a great deal at only $0.99! While there are many apps that claim to improve underexposed iPhone photos, iFlashReady delivers the most impressive results quickly and using a very streamlined interface.

This was a dollar very well spent!
