I’m a Sony PSP owner, and as any PSP owner knows, there really aren’t many decent games for the sexy little console. It’s a shame, really. However, amongst all of the crap, Lumines shone quite brightly. It was a cool music-based falling block puzzle game that looked a lot like Tetris dancing to disco. Here’s the kicker, though: I never played it. I thought it looked really cool, and gaming sites gave it pretty decent reviews, but I didn’t want to shell out cash on a puzzler on the PSP. However, Lumines is no longer a PSP-exclusive, and now that I know they’re bringing the game to the iPhone, I’m pretty excited about it. There doesn’t seem to be a solid release date, but it could come as soon as September.
There’s something about the iPhone that makes me want to try different types of games out. Maybe it’s because I wonder how they’ll pull of different controls schemes on an essentially button-less gaming machine. But it’s also probably because the digital marketplace is so easy to access…some might say too easy to access (eh, wallet?).
