ICEBeacon – In Case of Emergency Alert System App for iPhone

ICEBeacon iPhone app

There are really not many apps that I ‘ve come across in the App Store that look as if they could “ even potentially “ be a lifesaver for someone.  ICEBeacon strikes me as one that just might be.

It is touted as ‘the most capable In Case of Emergency (ICE) iPhone application available today ‘ “ and it looks to me as if it has fairy good features and credentials to support that claim.  Its core function is aimed at first responders, and allows them to hit one button to send 4 text messages to friends, family, or co-workers in case of emergency.

Here are some of ICEBeacon ‘s features:

¢    One-touch activation
¢    Sends four automatic text messages
¢    Picture for identification
¢    Name
¢    Age
¢    Blood type
¢    Allergies
¢    Medications
¢    Medical condition
¢    Insurance information
¢    (Click to call) Link to primary contact
¢    (Click to call) Link to insurance company
¢    (Click to call) Link to primary physician

I can vaguely recall seeing a few similar apps for the iPhone “ but none that struck me as being as useful and thorough as this app seems to be.  The makers of it even provide a free sticker for users of the app “ so that first responders can identify them as users of the app.

ICEBeacon ‘s App Store description also highlights that it is the only such app to have partnered with the American Red Cross

Through a partnership with the American Red Cross, 25 cents from every download
will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, with Clearwave
Mobile committing a minimum of $250,000 in donations by July 1, 2010. The
Disaster Relief Fund enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional
support and other assistance to victims of all disasters.

There is lots more good information about this app, and the company behind it, at their web site, HERE.

You can find ICEBeacon in the App Store now, priced at $2.99.
