I ‘ve been a fan of PimpMyNews for a long while, and first posted on it at this site way back at the beginning of last year. The service and application have just had a major re-branding. It ‘s now called BuzzVoice “ and it ‘s packing a bunch of nice new features along with the slick new name.
The main BuzzVoice web service is already fully alive and kicking, and a brand new iPhone app is just awaiting Apple approval, and should be hitting the App Store any day now. In the meantime, I ‘ve been taking a look at some preview videos for it, and it ‘s looking very good.
Here are some of the major things that are new in BuzzVoice:
1) It ‘s Faster. We ‘ve upgraded our real time news engine, so, whether you ‘re streaming stories on your iPhone, iPod touch, a regular iPod, or your computer, you ‘ll notice faster content updating and speedier on-the-fly text-to-voice conversion.
2) More Sources: Choose from over 1,400 of the Web ‘s top news & blogs to personalize your playlist. And with 59 categories, like Technology, Sports, Entertainment, Politics and more, there ‘s something for everyone.
3) Daily BuzzAlerts: Instead of having to log in to BuzzVoice every morning, you ‘ll automatically get the latest headlines from your playlist in your email inbox! Just tap a headline to get current on the spot (there ‘s an opt out link in every BuzzAlert email).
4) BuzzVoice PRO: Keep up with all your favorite topics, personalize your playlist with up to 50 sources, get full 30 minute Daily BuzzCasts, pick voices for your BuzzCast, and no ads “ all for only a few bucks per month. Start your free BuzzVoice PRO trial today.
5) The BuzzVoice iPhone App.* Stream your favorite topics over the air, view story text, images and video, share stories on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and more. And, you ‘ll love the hands-free ‘continuous play ‘ feature, called BuzzRadio. Just tap a ‘station ‘ to catch up in a flash, in the car, gym, train “ or anywhere.
BuzzVoice looks and sounds quite good “ and the Pro service sounds like a pretty strong offering as it gives you three big step-ups from the standard service;
- Up to 30 minutes worth of personalized podcast (daily buzzcast) content “ as opposed to 10 minutes in the standard version
- The ability to choose different voices for your daily buzzcast
- Ability to set a specific time for your buzzcast each day
The Pro service goes for $3.99/month and can be purchased a month at a time, or for 12 months. You get two months free if you purchase the full year.
I ‘m keen to see how the new BuzzVoice iPhone app hit the store. In the meantime, the video demos on it are quite a good teaser. You can check those out HERE.
Oh, and speaking of teasers, once BuzzVoice hits the App Store we ‘ll be running a promo codes contest for it “ so keep an eye out for that.
