An iPhone Games Mix – 16 Great Games for Under $30

JAiB Games Mix 1

A few weeks back I posted on the Appsfire app “ which makes it super easy to share your iPhone app recommendations with friends (or even enemies if that ‘s your thing).  Today the very clever folks at Appsfire have let me know about another very cool service they ‘re providing “ an instant iPhone apps widget maker.

What does an iPhone apps widget maker do?  The short answer is that in just a few clicks it lets me create what I think is a very good ‘Games Mix ‘ widget, with links to 16 very cool iPhone games that have a total cost of $27 “ and share it via Twitter, Facebook, and widgets on a web site.  Click on the image at the top of the post and give it a look.

Here is the official, better descritpion from Ouriel, one of the founders of Appsfire:

What it does is very simple: it allows you to create in 2 clicks an iPhone widget with a selection of apps out of any page that includes app store itunes links

You can also add manually itunes link to customize your own selection and create a specific widget (my top games, …)

The widget will calculate automatically the value of this selection too.

So, to try the new service out I decided to whip up a widget containing all the games that are currently on my ‘Favorite Games ‘ home screen.  I was surprised to see that these came in at under $30, and I think they cover a good range of subjects, enough to provide many hours of great entertainment (if you share any of my interests represented in the games that is).  Here ‘s a very quick rundown of the games I included in the widget:

Binary Game: If you think math is never fun, think again “ and check this game out!

Paper Toss: Very basic, very silly idea “ but brilliantly well executed that somehow manages to be super addicitive.

Paper Toss World Tour: See above, but on a world domination kick. 🙂

Blackjack21: Old school favorite from way back in pre App Store days, and still great.  If you like Blackjack, you ‘ll love this game.

PhraseCraze: Great family word-guessing game

HOMERUN Battle 3D: Baseball ‘s Home Run Derby on the iPhone, with solo and head-to-head live online matchups.  My favorite iPhone game. Awesome.

Ten Pin Bowling Championship:  Great controls, easy to play “ as comfortable and fun as a real bowling outing.

Pub Quiz: Just as the name suggests.  All the best elements of a trivia quiz in a good pub, except for the good beer. 🙂

Quantum Pool: 11 crazy spins on pool “ from fending off the pull of black holes in the middle of the table to a gridiron style game and a pinball wizard version.

Word Fu: Fast-paced, whacky, fun word scramble game with a LOT more bells and whistles than word games generally have.

3 Point Skills Challenge: The NBA ‘s All Star weekend contest for long range shooting on the iPhone.  Very good controls and feels like the real thing.

Jeopardy: A good rendering of the venerable TV version.

Killer Pool: Superb pool game offering lots of realistic gameplay and good variety of games to choose from.

Crazy Penguin Catapults 2: They ‘re crazy penguins and you get to knock off polar bears by catapulting the little buggers “ what more do you need in a game?

Civilization Revolution: The Sid Meier ‘s classic game brought to the iPhone.

Chess With Friends: Chess, online “ against random opponents or friends.

I hope some of you may find some of those are potential favorites as well “ and this just seemed like a fun way to test out Appfire ‘s new capability.  Sort of like sharing a mix tape back in the day. Just click on the image at the top of this post “ or go HERE “ to see my Games widget, with App Store links for all the games (just click their icon).

Let us know if this is something you think is worthwhile “ and if so, we ‘ll see about putting together more ‘mixes ‘ in future.

If you want to create your own, you can do so by manually copying in iTunes links or just by throwing in a link to a web page with several iTunes links on it “ maybe one of our Free Reign roundup posts for example.  To give it a try for yourself go to the Appsfire page at:
