Apple Looking into iPhone 3.1 Battery Charge Issues

The iPhone Blog is reporting that Apple is actively looking into the influx of user reports of reduced iPhone battery life after the 3.1 update. Reportedly, the AppleCare devision is contacting, and asking questions of users who are posting complaints on Apple support forums.

An undisclosed number of users who have posted on Apple’s discussion boards about poor battery life following the iPhone 3.1 software update are being contacted by AppleCare helpdesk with a hefty list of 11 follow-up questions. These questions focus primarily on the usual battery culprits, email (especially push), WiFi and Bluetooth, and App Store apps. Number 10, asking “When you notice a power drop, does it seem to be a legitimate power drop, or rather an issue with the battery icon indicator?”, is certainly interesting.

These same users are being given a “Battery Life Logging” profile to install on their iPhones. This panel will sync data up to iTunes, which in turn will sent the collected battery data to Apple.
This, along with yesterday’s post, shows Apple is looking after it’s platform. However, the way I see it, is the platform is growing so fast Apple can barely keep up. Which is a good problem.
