Comics for iPhone updated to 1.2: adds push notifications for new comics and Twitter support

Comics 1.2 for iPhone

There will be a few more new comics from Boom! comics coming to the Comics app soon, but that’s not the biggest news of the 1.2 update. Push notifications will now be sent to Comics users whenever new issues of your favourite titles become available, and you can have the app auto-tweet about your in-app activities (I turned this one off  – feels a bit too spammy for my tastes).

They also added the ability to see which comics you’ve bought, although it took me a little while to find this feature. I thought I’d see some sort of badge or notification before buying a comic I already owned, or see some indication of ownership while browsing the catalogue. It turns out it’s much simpler than that. You just go to the “My Comics” tab and scroll down to the “Browse My Comics by…” section. This is where you’ll see all the comics you own – although there’s no distinction between the ones you currently have on your device and the ones that you bought before. A quick marker to indicate the difference would be very useful.

One last little bit that may have been introduced in an earlier update: the quick buy button. One click purchases for comics. Possibly dangerous, but quite convenient! 😀

Comics is still $0.99 in the App Store and there’s still the free version of the app with access to all the free titles.
