Maybe that strapline for the iPhone TV ads should be changed to ‘There Are a Bunch of Apps for That ‘ at some point. It seems like more and more often when you discover one app, even one that has a pretty oddball purpose to it, you soon discover it ‘s not alone in its little niche. I guess that ‘s just how it is when there are nearly 90,000 apps in the App Store.
The reason I mention that is that yesterday an app called Mission Statement Generator caught my eye, as a possible bizarro app candidate. So I started to take a look at it, and quickly found there were three apps that can help me ‘reinvent the company and join the rarefied club of jet-setting executives ‘. Nice, especially as I don ‘t think I ‘ve ever been a member of any rarified clubs before.
One of them even offers over 2 million ‘unique mission statements. That ‘s a whole lot of jargon getting thrown around, and I ‘m sure they ‘re every bit as powerful and effective as the two shown in the screenies at the top of this post.
I think my favorite bits of the two mission statements shown are:
We will conveniently pursue
Is that like pursuing without leaving your comfy chair kinda thing?
And
recontextualize modular capabilities
No clue, but damned impressive sounding.
Oh, and one of the apps also offers this feature that somehow crossed over from their Ten Commandments app:
At the touch of a button, a mission statement will be carved in virtual stone using realistic chiseling sounds.
Just to add to the bizarre level on these apps, two of them share identical names “ Mission Statement Generator, and the third one is called the same with ‘Free ‘ on the end. I thought there were App Store rules about not using another app ‘s name in your app ‘s keywords? But it ‘s fine to use another app ‘s name in your app ‘s name.
Anyway, if you ‘re sitting round in a coffee shop with your future business partners with everything all figured out for conquering the business world and you just need a spectacularly silly mission statement to get things going, there are a bunch of apps for that. Just search for ‘mission statement generator ‘.
