Apple Tablet to Launch in Q1 2010, Foxconn to Manufacture them?

Digitimes is reporting that Foxconn Electronics has been tapped to manufacture Apple’s mythical rumored tablet device, and the launch is expected in quarter 1 of 2010.

The device is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2010, with initial shipments from Foxconn being in the 300,000-400,000 range, the sources said.

The device will have a 10.6-inch display, and the sources speculated that perhaps Foxconn could secure panels from its subsidiary Innolux Display.

As you may well know, previous rumors have suggested that the device will have a screen size somewhere in the ballpark of 7-10 inches, which this report matches up with nicely at 10.6 inches. There is also speculation that Innolux (yeah,me either) will provide the screens for the device.

To wrap up, the report claims that the device will emphasize ebook reader functionality, which also reinforces earlier claims that the device will redefine print media.

The thing that cracks me up, is the fact that people are claiming knowledge of ship-dates and part suppliers for a product that no one outside of Apple knows even exists.

I’m still really skeptical about this, is anyone else? Leave a comment!
