Not alone = I think there are lots of us seeing / feeling the issues with this stuff. PogoPlank looks interesting but a bit clumsy looking to me at first sight anyway. I hope Apple is working on something sleek and slick for us.

I am glad to see i am not alone thinking the same about the Springboard UI. I am one of those users with 11 pages of apps and having invisible apps that I can only pull via Spotlight.

I just wrote about a new Sprinboard replacement UI (for jailbreakers only) called PogoPlank. It again acts like Categories but the UI is very interesting. I am giving it a go to see if I can get used to it. It has limitations in it's current version but the dev is promising more features in the next few days.

However, we need to see the initiative within Apple to address this. Vertical scrolling can help a little. The problem for me with Categories is that I need to constantly keep adding apps to categories and sometimes I want to add an app to more than 1 category. It is kinda the blogging way – tags/labels are much better thank one container for an app.

Interesting stuff.

Looks interesting, possibly real useful. Hits me as a little ugly looking just now, but they do say you can theme it up quite a bit. May have to give this one a go when it hits Cydia.

I think it's Alpha or Beta .. but I don't know that development is still going. I had difficulty at first, then rebooted the iPhone and it works like a charm! It's actually one of my favorite features, being able to extend my dock to like 10 apps.

Categories runs slow for me, so I really only install it when I find I've got too many apps to scroll through easily.

Oh absolutely, or hide them, or group them somewhere at the farthest boundaries of not frequently used apps.

I tried out Categories and just never found it that compelling. Also tried Stack but couldn't really get it going. Is it still at alpha stage?

But, between Stack (works just like Stacks on OS X), Categories (lets you define “folders” and put apps in those folders, hiding it from the main springboard), and SpringJumps (creates shortcuts to specific springboard pages) … I'm set!
