By: iPhone App Update and Ressurection: iGmail 2.1 adds paid PUSH notifications and paid Google Apps support | Just Another iPhone Blog https://isource.com/2009/10/12/review-igmail-for-iphone-a-full-screen-gmail-web-app-with-great-controls/#comment-15901 Thu, 19 Nov 2009 20:59:43 +0000 http://isource.com/?p=11182#comment-15901 […] After having been absent from the App Store for a few weeks, iGmail came back all of a sudden last night and its new price (FREE) probably explains its absence. When I first reviewed iGmail it cost $2.99 and the remarkable thing about it was the extra large text-entry area and full-screen support for the browser-based Gmail app. Google has since released an update to the Gmail interface to allow for auto-adjusting text entry boxes and much easier scrolling in long e-mails, which means that the original iGmail client only had one major advantage left: full screen mode and left-orientation lock (see review for details). By: Gmail for iPhone now auto-expands the text entry box | Just Another iPhone Blog https://isource.com/2009/10/12/review-igmail-for-iphone-a-full-screen-gmail-web-app-with-great-controls/#comment-14984 Mon, 26 Oct 2009 17:20:31 +0000 http://isource.com/?p=11182#comment-14984 […] now). Incidentally, this expanding text box really knocks out one of the major advantages of the iGmail app that I reviewed a little while ago — although that may be a moot point, since I can’t […]

(GMail on custom domains). Last time I've looked into finding an answer (http://jots.mypopescu.com/post/206180564/better-g… there were rumours only that it doesn't. That would make it completely useless to me.

Really seems to load quicker than either the native mail app, the gmail web app, and Push GMail (which lacks landscape mode).

HOWEVER, as of a few days ago – the app has become unavailable in the store AND it has started crashing every time I try to open an email. Anyone else seeing this behavior?

Google moves aggresively recently, with Chrome, and android. All we see now on the web is related to Google.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear that. The primary reason for using the partial feed is that our site gets 'scraped' (gets content ripped and misused by splogger sites) a lot, and it is demoralizing for all of us to work hard at generating original content only to see it ripped off and used at lots of other crappy sites all over the web.

I like these apps because they sync with m desktop gmail, look like my desktop gmail, and show me full threaded conversations as opposed to just one e-mail at a time. I just prefer threaded convos to single e-mails.

Actually I've found that the bookmark on the home screen isn't full-screen at all. It also lacks the double-size text entry box, transparent controls, and the right and top orientation locks. It's these small details that help usability a lot , IMO.
