iClarified is reporting that Apple has updated its shipping iPhone 3GS models Boot ROM to prevent an exploit typically used for jailbreaking the device, from being implemented.
The iBoot-359.3.2 started to ship last week. A screenshot posted by Mathieulh shows the new version number.
MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that the loss of the 24kpwn exploit would mean a normal jailbreak would be impossible for the time being.

As you may know, Apple has modified files in iPhone software updates to stop jailbreaking, but this appears to be the first time Apple has changed the software while on the production line.
Jailbreaking of the iPhone or iPod touch allows users to do things that haven’t been authorized by Apple, such as run applications not on the App Store, or even pirated copies of applications that had originally bought on the App Store.
