I then decided to buy an IPhone, because I knew that the Otterbox would protect it, and I am constantly dropping things.

Since I got it (about 6 months ago), the phone has been kicked down the stairs, fallen 6ft onto ice, fallen out of my pocket while running for the bus and hit the pavement, and has been dropped numerous times… but still does not even have a SINGLE scratch on the phone… or even the case!

My fiance has also dropped his phone numerous times as well.. even 10ft out of his truck window once and onto concrete, and it still doesn’t even have a mark on it!

Yet my brand new Acer was dropped ONCE and broke immediately, being in a cheap “made in china” sock case.

Otterbox Defender Series PROTECTS your phone.. and when you’re facing real life situations and end up dropping your phone or it falling out of your pocket or being knocked off te sofa by your dog… you can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing it’s protected.

Cause it’s in an Otterbox!

Lost the new one again, when the phone snapped out the clip onto the taxi seat. Dont ever buy this clip case.

The thing is, he only got to review the Defender in plain black. Oh well, more pink and black […]

I do not have the various conditions/jobs that would typically require a rugged case; I am just sometimes irritatingly clumsy at random times, and have in the past dropped other (inferior) flip/slide phones I had before I got my 16GB 3GS. As a result, despite the $50 sticker price, both I and my wife were in favor of putting "my Precious" as I call it (LOTR), in the Defender for safe-keeping. Surprisingly, I have dropped it only a few times since my August birthday purchase, and of course, as others & Joet have stated, the Defender laughs at any type of impact, keeping its inhabitant frozen in perfect "just-purchased" condition. As a result, I think the investment is worth it, since buying the Defender new will very likely give you years of protection, itself being nearly indestructible. Hopefully the rumored new iPhone coming out next June won't change in configuration at all, allowing me to simply swap Defender's 'precious' cargo. Thanks for the detailed review! Bravo!

It recently was dropped without my knowledge while I was at work. It fell into the street and I noticed a few minutes later it was missing. I recovered it as I backtracked my movements from where I saw it last. I found it laying, screen up, in the street with tread marks on the back of it from where a fire truck (that I was riding in) drove over it right after I dropped it. I checked the phone and it came right on. I opened up the case and the phone looked brand new as the day it went into the case. The only marks left are on the rubber cover on the back of the case where the tires rode over it. It has definitely paid for itself. I highly recommend the Otterbox Defender.
