For a while now I’ve been waiting to tell you all about what is definitely one of my favorite games on the iPhone. Problem was – you just couldn’t have it yet and I’m not one to gloat about what I’ve got and you can’t have. Well now you can have it too. It’s called Sniper Vs. Sniper (iTunes) and its from one of the best little game developers out there – Com2Us. I’m sure you know who they are, since they make that game Patrick won’t shut up about – Homerun Battle 3D (iTunes).

I’ve unfortunately not had much time to play Sniper lately as life has yet again taken hold over all things me, but I can tell you this: When I did have time to play, this was by far the most addictive game I’ve owned on the iPhone so far. No Joke. Why? Well, with all games that include some form of online component you get that little pang of competition. Games like Flight Control push you to one-up some faceless person on the other side of the internet by simply scoring higher on a leader board. Sniper has leader boards too, and that’s great, but they take the whole thing one step further and pit you one-on-one in a winner takes all battle to the death.

It’s not the one-on-one that makes this game great either. I mean you can get that playing Homerun Battle. The thing with Sniper is that you’re not just sitting there waiting for a pitch to come your way and tapping the screen to make your little guy hit a ball. With Sniper you’re waiting for a bullet, and while you’re waiting for that bullet you’re frantically searching (like some sick Where’s Waldo?) for your target in some of the toughest background scenes you can think of.

To make things even tougher, once you’ve found that target (in one on one you have to search with binoculars) you still have to deal with the scope moving around because of the breathing effect. So just when you think you’ve got the perfect shot, be aware a huge miss is only a breath away. The biggest tip of all I can give, is before you decide to go and hop online to start partaking of the action, spend some time and go the training missions and challenges. There’s a learning curve before you can really consider taking on the top players, and the missions will quickly get you up to speed, not to mention they have some great benefits like upgraded armor and faster reload speeds. These missions also provide some good offline action so in the off chance you aren’t finding an online challenge, hope into a challenge and tone up those skillz.

I’m going to wrap this up with a couple quick thoughts. One: If you’re still reading this, I’m sorry but you’re wasting time when you could be sitting there with your heart pounding out of your chest. Yes, it’s that good. Two: Every game has some flaws. This one doesn’t have very many of them. Com2Us learned a lot from Homerun Battle 3D and its shows in Sniper Vs. Sniper. Little things like a phone call coming in and taking a few seconds to ignore the call aren’t going to kick you out of the online battle you’re in. That’s huge in a game like Sniper where wins move you up in the ranks. Three: Connections over 3G are definitely good enough to keep you in the game, Edge is sort of iffy sometimes. Wifi is definitely recommended, but you should still be able to get a couple games in on your lunch hour. Finally: I can’t recommend this game enough. I love it. If you’re a fan of FPS games my guess is you’re going to love it to.

You can pick up Sniper Vs. Sniper today for $4.99 on Sniper Vs Sniper: Online.
