RSS Player (formerly known as Podcaster) isn ‘t just one of those iPhone apps that takes something a built-in app (in this case, the iPod app) does and then does it better. It takes managing podcasts on the iPhone and does it a hundred times better.
Alex, the app ‘s developer, contacted us this week to let us know there ‘s a major update for it on the way, and to offer us a preview copy, which I ‘ve been trying out for a couple days now. Here ‘s just a little detail on the upcoming 2.0 update:
It includes several big features. It has Push Alerts for new episodes, a better search, improved OTA syncing and a lot of small refinements to the UI.
The new version looks really good. You can setup push alerts for up to five podcasts for free, and then add further via in-app purchase if you need to.

To me, the pricing level seems more than fair “ with the ability to receive push alerts for your favorite five podcasts for free and just $0.99 to add an additional ten.
The alerts are working nicely for me as well.
Performance seems quite snappy so far in this new version. Downloads are fast and happen painlessly in the background while you interact with the application.
This update “ to Version 2.0 “ has already been submitted for approval; so barring any reviews silliness it should be hitting the store very soon. Once again, it ‘s good to see an already stellar app continuing to improve and offer more useful new features.
You can find RSS Player “ full name RSS Player Podcast Client aka Podcaster “ in the App Store now, priced at $0.99.
*** The developers of RSS Player have provided the post author with a free preview copy of this new version of the app. For further information regarding our site’s review policies, please see the "About" page.
