When the Genius for Apps feature first came along with the iPhone OS 3.1 update, I was not very impressed with it. Despite presumably starting off with full knowledge of hundreds of apps I ‘d purchased via the App Store, its early sets of recommendations for me were odd and mostly useless.
Fast forward a couple months though and I have to say that the last couple times I ‘ve looked at my Genius list of recommendations, they look much more promising. Four out of the five apps shown in the screencap above are actually of interest to me, and the fifth (Sugar Sync) would be except that I ‘ve used it in the past and have a preferred solution (Dropbox) in that area.
Derek Jeter Real Baseball looks very good (and had been recently suggested to me by a friend as well) and I ‘d likely be grabbing it if it wasn ‘t the end of the baseball season just now.
Vintage Video Maker also looks particularly interesting, and I am debating giving it a go.
I ‘m glad to see that the Genius function is learning nicely as I continue shopping the App Store, as you can never have too many good referral sources for apps.
How are you all finding the Genius for Apps feature? Is it getting smarter for you as well, helping you out at all?
