I’ve been at my belt again as the place to hold my iPhone. I know it’s not the most stylish place to store the device, but Tim Horton (not an actual Canuck phrase) if it isn’t convenient. The problem really has been finding a stylish, strong, and slim case to hold the iPhone in place with a belt clip that doesn’t stick out.
The GorillaTube I reviewed struck me as just such a case, but it doesn’t have a belt clip. Then I remembered the Shift Rivet Clip I had been saving from a review I wrote a few months ago I put two and two together (four) and placed the rivet right onto the back of the GorillaTube where belt clips usually go. The result is the Franken-Holster you see in this post: part carbon-fiber case, part stainless steel belt clip.
I’m leaving the Rivet in place for about eight hours as their site recommends and then I’ll be testing it out at home for a little while before I even dare go out with it. If it turns out that the weight of the iPhone and the case is too much for that small Rivet’s M3 adhesive, I might even add some super glue to the mix as a last ditch effort. If not, I’ll just take a knife, chop the clip off, and put the iPhone back in my pocket. I might even cry a little, because I’m really hoping this works.
Anybody else here make their own Franken-case combinations?
