TechCrunch is reporting that Apple has launched a new feature on their iTunes Facebook page. This new page allows users to create customized digital gift cards, with six separate themes. Currently the service is only available in the U.S. You can chose a range of denominations from $5-$50, and the purchaser can enter a message or specify a delivery date.
This appears to be one of the only ways to purchase a digital iTunes giftcard — the Apple site itself only offers physical versions, and sites like Gifts.com and Giftcards.com don’t have them either. Aside from this Facebook app, the only place we’re seeing the option is from within the iTunes desktop app itself.
Sounds like a great idea, but why do this when “gifting” already exists within the iTunes Store itself?
