Ok, I have to start by admitting that I like awards, a lot. Love watching the Oscars, the ESPYs, the BAFTA awards when I was in the UK, and lots of others. Of course, as an iPhone apps junkie, I ‘m delighted to see that we have various awards celebrating great iPhone apps.
The Best App Ever Awards are one of the most interesting of all, as they have been so enthusiastically embraced by the public and they cover so much ground. They were a huge success when they debuted last year and look well set to be an even bigger hit this year.
The 2009 Best App Ever Awards feature 55 categories covering iPhone apps and games “ so lots of room to find the best spot, or spots, to nominate your favorite apps in.
I know lots of you who visit here are big-time app nuts “ so you should head over and do some nominating when you have a few minutes. Here ‘s where to go:
The categories are extensive and give you lots of room to find places for tops apps for a great variety of reasons. You can nominate apps that are most useful as well as those that are biggest productivity killers; those that make best use of hardware or location services, or those that boast the best design; those that are the most innovative; or ones that are the most educational or helpful for parents; and plenty more.
If you use a wide range of apps and have a wide range of favorites, rest assured that they ‘ll likely be a good slot for all of them.
I ‘m lucky enough to be on the Nomination Committee for the awards this year, and I took some time to submit my nominations last night. I actually had a lot of fun doing mine “ the range of categories really got me thinking.
The biggest reason why I love these awards, and others showcasing iPhone apps, is that the App Store is such a tough place now “ with tens of thousands of apps and all the other numerous challenges it presents. Initiatives like the Best App Ever Awards are a superb way for developers to get some attention for their great iPhone apps, and for grateful users to feel good about helping to get some love and spotlight-time for their favorites.
