but as I understand it (unless jailbroken – see Chris's comment above), the iPhone only accepts 1 Exchange account. Since I already had one Exchange account through work, I was unable to set up alerts for my personal email. And I wanted the condensed, threaded conversations that Google's gmail offers through its webmail service.

I suppose your desire to have this depends on your particular needs. For me, it's a pretty good fit with "Quiet Hours."

Thanks for the info! I have iPhone Explorer for a Mac but haven't delved deep into the iPhone bowels. Regardless, even if I were able to set up two MS Exchange accounts, I presume it works with the native Mail app. That still misses the mark on threaded conversations and is no different than the Boxcar/Mail combo I used previously.
