Apple has started its campaign iTunes 12 days of Christmas (iTunes link) delivering 1 free download a day every day starting 26 December 2009 till 6 January 2010.
What’s unique about this story is that Apple is going about it via a free standalone app, notifying you about the freebie of the day and letting you post news of the download onto your Facebook profile. Also interesting is that select European countries have been chosen exclusively for this campaign.
The 1st song available on the Austrian Store is a video of a live performance by Die Fantastischen Vier ‘Spiesser”.

I suspect the offerings will be region specific and that we may get an app or two as a gift as well. If anyone has any more information on which countries are participating and if the same songs are being offered, let us know in the comments.
