If it’s one thing that the iPhone has brought into our lives is an obsession with apps of a particular category. Some are crazy about puzzle game apps, others download each clock app that comes to the App store. For me it’s photography apps. I have already been delighted to discover gems like Polarize, Vint B&W, Photoshop Mobile and Camera genius.
The new object of my affection is Lo-mob (iTunes link), an amazing app that gives you instant photo ecstasy via preset filters, one more gorgeous than the other, allowing you to experiment with outdated and vintage film effects. Take or choose a photo, load it into the app and you get currently 39 versions using different effects and settings. Save to your library or send and share via email, Facebook, Twitter or Picasa.
The Aestesis team has updated the app to version 1.1 just before Christmas, now supporting iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS. The update also brings a number of enhancements, including in-app settings, new filters, letting you toggle FX, frames, blurs, and vignetting on and off for each version. The possibilities are now endless!
I could go on and on describing the app features in detail, but since a picture is worth a 1000 words, I’ll leave you to get a feel of the app’s scope via my example shot “The day after”.
The original photo is at the top, followed by different renderings. It’s hard to really pick a fave. Each rendering has its own special character.

Lo-mob is available on the App store for $1.99 / €1.59. If you are a photo geek like me you’ll love it!
