The game was downloaded 300,000 times in 24 hours, overwhelming the Tapulous servers so much that the company had to turn off the online playing feature of the game. Tap Tap Revenge is now the No. 2 most popular free game on iTunes.
I guess you could say that recent move to make Tap Tap Revenge 3 a free app has got a rather enthusiastic response :) I imagine it will pan out as a successful one as well, since the game seems to do quite well on sales of more songs via in-app purchase and spin-off titles featuring specific artists and groups.
I wonder which other high profile apps may try out this strategy in coming months.
