New Wireless Charging Pad & Case for iPhone – Coming Soon from Case-mate

Case-mate announced its new iPhone 3G / 3GS Hug wireless charging pad and case this week at CES.

Charge up without plugging in. Simply put the Hug case and pad together for a power hug. No power adaptors needed between your Hug pad and case as power is transferred safely and wirelessly between them. Is your phone feeling low? Give it a Hug.

We ‘ve seen some similar wireless solutions around in 2009, for various devices, including this one for the iPhone that Josh tried out.  The Hug looks a little more streamlined to me, and appears to be more keenly priced.

Second, place the Hug case with the phone in it on the charging pad. Magnets in the pad and case automatically create a safe, charging field that wirelessly charges your phone. Hug is designed for future compatibility with the Qi Standard.

I ‘m not usually very excited by cases and accessories, but I quite like the look of this one, and will be trying to get hold of a review unit.
