I don’t visit my iPhone SMS app all that often any more because of iRealQuickSMS (review here), but I might do so more often now just to peek at this SMS skin. It’s called Edge Binding SMS 2, and it features the lovely matted look of Matte UI, but fuses the once free-floating SMS bubbles right to the sides of the screen. Even the “send” button is a little different, and I like it. I’ve tested the skin with a few messages and the image seem to stand up nicely in real use, and that’s impressive, since the SMS app is one of the iPhone’s more animated apps. Edge Binding comes in two variations: the normal (shown above) and a graphite version. Just place the themes in your themes folder and load them up in Winterboard.
The skin was made by Alex Marchuk and he posted it over on the MacThemes forums. He said it should be up on Cydia in a little while, but I couldn’t wait, and chose to SSH it over to my iPhone instead.
