I am an iPhone developer myself and I suppose iPhone does not allow to access multiple photos or automatically add photos to a third party application. Also, they somehow remove the EXIF data from the pics when making it available to third party apps so probably that is the reason sort shot guys made it like it is.. Just my opinion though..
