Great point John. I've been featuring iPhone art at a little baby second site, and I discover nearlly all of it via some great Flickr groups and contacts. Community on Flickr seems immensely strong.

Ive used Flickr since before it was purchased by Yahoo (2005) .. I use Flickr for just about everything .. Screenshots .. Family Photos , Hi res Photos .. 24.95 per year .. for unlimited images .. thats a bargain .. 2.00 / month for storage .. unlimited storage ( that alone is a great deal) My #1 reason for Flickr COMMUNITY .. I have met many of my best friends , from Flickr . I started the Hamilton Flickr Group http://www.flickr.com/groups/hamilton_flickr_grou… in May 2006 with 6 people at a restaurant in Hamilton ,, since then we have over 15,000 images and frequent get togethers ( meetups ) , Flickr maybe just a web site to some , but its also about sharing and friendships born out of the passion of Photography

I do keep local copies of some of my pictures – and tend to use Dropbox (which stays continuously synced online as well) or an iDisk synced folder for that purpose.

Patrick, does this mean you don't keep local copies of your pictures, or do you just use a different program? To be honest I never understood why people had so many photos, that was about 3 years ago. Now with a 2 year old, I can't believe how many we have amassed and its getting to be a mess among my wife's BlackBerry and Dell, and my iPhone and Macbook.

I think just because it was the first photo sharing service I used, and I still find it one of the easiest to use. I've used Picasa at times, but never liked it enough to use consistently. I know others think highly of it, but I honestly can't stand iPhoto – find it way too slow and crashy and avoid using it at all costs.

I am thinking about merging to Flickr because of these types of high quality Flickr apps. I am not trying to be a jerk, this is a sincere question. Why Flickr? Google has my maps, it has my documents, it has my calendar, it has my e-mail, and my pictures
