Ever get stuck in an endless and boring meeting and wish you could just manufacture a great excuse to get out before you completely lost the will to live? Or been on a horrible blind date or any sort of painful and awkward social event where a timely fake call with an excuse for a rapid exit would be a godsend? There ‘s a new jailbreak app that offers to come to the rescue for all your fake calling needs.
The Call and Excuse app lets you very quickly and easily create a fake call from anyone of your choosing. As you can see in the screencaps above, I tested it out in a meeting with my dog just a short while ago “ told him I needed to take a call from Mr Jobs, straight from the Tablet Development Bunker.
The app is simple to use. You just fill in the name of the person you want your fake call to come from and where they ‘re meant to be calling from (Home, Office, Mobile, Secret Tablet Development Bunkers etc) and that ‘s it. A few seconds later your iPhone will ring (though it will use a default, built-in ringtone, not your own) and the caller you specified will appear on the screen.
Marvelous. I used to have to attend a weekly team meeting at 8:00AM every Monday morning. It was not a popular meeting time. It would have been all sorts of awesome to have used this app to get an escape call from someone different each week via an app like this.
The app can also offer up a fake screen indicating the battery is fully drained “ though this one looks less authentic to me.
Definitely a fun little app “ and perhaps an essential one depending on how many boring meetings / awkward social situations you find yourself in. 🙂
