Mercury Browser gets another chance [iPhone App Update]

After a lackluster review and several scathing comments in the App store, the developer of Mercury Browser 2.0 responded with another update (Mercury Browser Lite version 2.1) that restored some of the options I preferred in version 1. Gone is the splash screen that many found as an annoying time-waster, and back are two features that made it a solid replacement of mobile Safari: 6-tabs can now be opened at a time again (instead of version 2.0 ‘s limit of 4 tabs), and the ‘Private Browsing ‘ option has returned (the developers were unaware of the popularity of this feature). Too bad they also didn’t restore the size and navigation images at the bottom of the page.

iLegendSoft is also now offering a Pro version for $0.99 that may be worth the cost of personalizing and customizing the interface. Honestly, I thought version 1.0 was worth more than $0.99, but I might take a look at the Pro version for a future review.
