Embedded above is a quick look at SonicPics 1.0 for iPhone. A few extra notes: the UI is just a teensy bit misleading because the photos slide so nicely while you’re recording the slideshow, but the finished video simply cuts from one photo to the next. I thought this took away from the fun, since I was sometimes slowly dragging pics across the screen for dramatic effect. I was also confused when I first started recording, because it wasn’t clear that I had to slide from one app to the next – I thought I was recording audio just one picture at a time.
Overall, I think SonicPics is off to a pretty good start: it’s a fun concept for an app, and I imagine it could really be quite useful once you get the hang of it. However, it could really use the option to rotate an entire video (since not all pictures and screenshots are portrait orientation) and some clearer in-app instructions.
