I still vastly prefer Beejive to any other messaging app. It's still the smoothest, easiest, and prettiest chat client for me (though PC2 is really good looking as well)

I really want to be able to do FaceTime with gChat or something similar…

A very close friend of mine recently moved to Japan. While I have the option of using Skype, Facebook or email (which we do use btw), those service cannot offer true 'instant' messaging.

Enter PingChat!2. While it's not as polished as the default SMS app, the speed, ease of use and ability to send pictures and videos and have them delivered to the recipient virtually instantaneously, coupled with the confidence that they are immediately notified make this a better option than the alternatives (not that I've tried them all).

There are many other reasons why this is a great app, but the biggest for me has been communicating with a friend several thousand miles away like he was only around the corner.
