My pre-order experience was very easy, if you live in a small town like mine I'm sure you had the same experience.
I went to our local best buy (which is one of the smallest I know of) at 9:45am and was the first to pre-order the 16GB black. Put $50 on it and that was it. No lines, no hassle or nothing!
I plan on using best buy's trade in program to get gift credit towards my iphone 4. I'll trade in my 3GS the day before and use that credit to buy the rest of my iphone 4.
I suggest everyone buy their iphones from best buy, I had a pretty good experience!

Late summer, huh? Where have we heard that before… I posted on a previous post here so I won't repeat myself. Long story short the process was terrible, but on launch day the local Apple store has a 32gb with my name on it!

I walked into my ATT Store, was seen by a salesman within 15 min, ordered two 16 black Iphone 4 and was on my way. Very smooth and pleasant. Tried on line all day and failure after failure glad I was able to get to the local store.

I ordered through the new Apple Store app on my iPhone which I downloaded since I wasn't able to get out of the office to physically go into any stores..I tried the Apple Store, the AT&T store and called Radioshack to no avail..but after I downloaded the app, I went through the SIMPLE SIMPLE SIMPLE process and received a confirmation email that my iPhone will be available for pick-up at 7:00 a.m. on iPhone4-day 🙂 So excited and elated because I really wanted this damn phone.

I had actually got my order through AT&T online at about 2:15 AM. I had tried the Apple Online Store for about an hour (so from 1 AM to about 2:10 AM) with no luck. I tried the AT&T site and my order gone through in about five minutes once I went through the process.

I'm glad I managed to get it through AT&T before all the system failures later on today.

I got into the online Apple Store at 1:05 AM Pacific Time and nearly immediately encountered difficulties. I could often get to validating my upgrade status (apparently via AT&T) only to have it say it couldn't access the information but to go ahead and reserve my iPhone & a rep at the Apple store would deal with any problems. But the system was so bogged down that by the time I finally the confirmation screen, it timed me out. And timed me out again and again. I resorted to deleting my cookies to make it stop timing out my session to no avail. I even changed browsers. After about 9 or 10 tries, giving up on ever getting validated for an upgrade, I finally, at 2:15 AM, just let it reserve a 32 GB iPhone for me at the full retail price of $700 and figured I'll just deal with it when I go into the store. There wasn't any choice and the more I tried, the longer everything took, the more tired I got, and finally to go to bed just accepted what I could reserve. It was a horrible experience. It's always the same story with new Apple products: I guess we're so enamored we'll put up with this over and over again.

i did, from the apple store. began process moments after store went live after updating. process interrupted for a little while by the store closing again, but was able to continue purchase as if nothing happened once store re-opened. finalizing the purchase took some time, though. had to hit the "submit" button a jillion times over about 20 minutes before it actually submitted my order. just now, about 11 hours later, i received an email acknowledging my order. not too bad, all in all. shouldn't have been surprised at the huge and immediate response at 5 a.m. PST, but i was.

I was up when it went live at 3:00 am (CST) and it took me until 5:30 to get it locked in using Apple.com. I'm just glad I was up, and took care of it early.

Started early this morning and finally got mine ordered at 1:32 PDT through the Apple website I have not received my confirmation email though. I checked the status of my order just a bit ago and it says delivery on the 24th though.

I ordered online from my iPhone 3GS at about 6:20AM EDT. I will pick it up at the local store near me in NJ. Later in the day I helped a friend order online but it was very difficult.

I thought i had to visit the Apple Store to pre-order my new iPhone, & of course i had to be someplace early today, so i didnt get there until lunchtime. It was busy as usual, but a nice store Genius was kind enough to tell me about the Apple Store App. i downloaded it (free), followed a few simple instructions, & pre-ordered my new iPhone in 5 minutes. Wooooo hooooo, i was in & out of there in a flash! Meanwhile, there were others sitting at the computers trying to get thru. Try it if you're having difficulty getting your order in.

I was a lucky one whom ordered straight from At&T website itself… with no hiccups at all!!! Now if I receive by the end of summer, and its the correct phone, in one piece that will be another story!
