Cube Runner II, a sequel to its predecessor, Cube Runner I by Andy Qua, is a hands-on game that involves using the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer to dodge cubes on a vast horizon. As simple as the premise is, it is challenging too.
The player starts out as a blip on the screen. The blip is constantly moving forward at a set speed. The object of the game is to weave through the cubes on the horizon. If the player accidentally bumps into a cube, the blip blows up and starts again at the beginning. The game itself has three different levels of difficulty by default. There are also downloadable level packs, and an option to create your own courses and even share them with friends.
In Cube Runner II, unlike Cube Runner I, there is a new Time Trial mode.
“With the new Time Trial mode, not only must you twist and turn to avoid the cubes, but tilt forward and back to be the fastest through the course.”
Also in this new version, the player can create his or her own course not only using blocks, but 26 different objects. The player can also stack your blocks, to create bridges and tunnels and walls. Cube Runner II’s gameplay is short, but fun, which results in a good combination to pass the time during short waiting periods.
