iAd Placeholders Begin to Show Up in Apps

iLounge is pointing out that applications that will support Apple’s upcoming iAd Mobile advertising program, are beginning to display placeholders for when the service officially launches on July 1st.

Avantar, developer of mobile search applications such as OneTap Movies, Showtimes, Munch and Yellow Pages, has updated several of its applications integrating the new mobile advertising platform. Apple’s iAd does not go live until July 1st, and at this time these apps appear to be showing either a test ad or an empty banner.

Additionally, Apple’s iTunes Connect feature for developers now has an iAd section in addition to news posts regarding the upcoming launch. Apple will be tracking requests for iAd slots in iAd-enabled applications being submitted to the App Store for approval, however, the service will not go live before July 1st.
