I have a problem….. I have downloaded and installed tomtom software and the jolly thing won't open up – can anyone out there please help me – would I need to delete the copy and redownload and reinstall the application on my iphone 4 ? any help would be appreciated, tks

Patrick, I have Tom Tom on my iphone but can't get it to update. Get a pop up that says "app ov
er 20mb connect to itunes. When I do, there is no place or way to up date the app??

The other option is to use the "clear route" bitton. That seems to shut it down also. Geez….coming from webOS I have to say that multi-tasking on webOS is 100% better implementation.

In reply to Kev Pinder. Kev, when was the last time you turned your phone on and off and synced it? If that doesn't work, try deleting and re-installing the app. It sounds like a conflict with iOS4. You might not have the new software.

just had iphone app and tom tom in car kit for hands free ( bought for me by my mrs)………………… loved it………….then got annoyed cause it wouldnt shut up…………..thanks for your fix….didnt know that there was a task bar…………………love it again now

Need some help guys:

When i'm on my route, and the map is displaying, all of a sudden it just exists & goes straight to the iPhone main menu. The TomTom is still running in the background as i can still hear it giving me directions, but i'd like to see the map at all times.
How can i fix this? Or is it unfixable?

Can’t belive new software gets issued with such bad functionality, from companies as big as tom tom and apple.

I am having the same problem. It would be nice to be able to turn the Tom Tom off when you want. However, I have notice after a considerable period of non use, a pop-up message appears on the phone to tell your Tom Tom is going to shut down. Still very annoying and battery consuming. Hope they fix this.

if anyone else is having that problem, I just put in a suggestion to apple to put an update out on the iOS 4 software to a timer in the settings where your apps can shut down if they're idol for however long..

In reply to Fiona. If you want to close the app down, just double tap the Home button on the iPhone to pull up the multitasking bar, then press and hold on any app shown in it, then tap the Minus sign symbol above any app you want to close.

After spending over 4 hours waiting for the updated app to FINALLY download – it is a significant improvement. The ability for the app to run in the background while using other features is great, until it gets to the point where I no longer require TomTom any longer – there is no exit option from the app, it just keeps on running and running, even when you have reached your destination. The only way I can work out how to exit is to actually power off the phone: VERY ANNOYING!
