I posted a couple of times yesterday about the massive lines at my local Apple store to buy the iPhone 4 yesterday “ so I thought I ‘d give just a quick final update on my quest to get the latest new iPhone.
Last night I was just too tired to post this “ but I did end up getting an iPhone 4 yesterday. It ended up taking just a few minutes under 12 hours, from time of arrival at the mall to the time I walked out with the iPhone 4.
There are two very simple reasons why it took me so many hours:
— My beloved Labrador was very ill and ultimately passed away during the time leading up to pre-orders opening up “ so I paid no attention to any of that and never even attempted a pre-order.
— Activations of iPhones were taking forever for most customers in the Apple store. As per usual, AT&T ‘s servers and systems just could not cope with the number of phones needing to be activated. As I ‘ve said before, this seems beyond stupid to me by now. Three years now AT&T has been the exclusive iPhone carrier “ it is amazing that they cannot gauge and provide the right level of resources to make one of these launches go quickly and smoothly.
Anyway, I ‘ll save that rant for another time. I ‘ve got my iPhone 4 and of course it is well worth the time put in yesterday. I hope all of you had better / shorter days than me yesterday.
