Second Wave of iPhone 4 Pre-Orders Begin to Ship, Likely Biggest iPhone Launch Yet

MacRumors is reporting that they have received reports that the second wave of iPhone 4 pre-orders are now beginning to ship even though they were scheduled for July 2nd.

In the mean time, ‘analysts” have been crunching numbers, and this is likely Apple’s largest iPhone launch to date. Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, has estimated that Apple has shipped 1-1.5 million iPhone 4 units in the first three days of availability. Compare this to last year’s “over a million” units shipped in three days, and then factor in the company running out of 600,000 pre-order slots, plus never-before-seen waiting line lengths, and you begin to see how Apple is going to blow past last year’s record.

I suspect Apple will post a press release once they have the numbers.
