Amp 2.0 (review of 1.0 – here) was released yesterday, but it’s not the iOS 4 compatible update I was expecting. Actually, let me rephrase that: it works just fine on my iPhone, but it doesn’t support multitasking yet.
Multitasking should make a big difference and eliminate the slight music lag upon loading or exiting the app, as well as drastically increase loading time.
However, there are some significant changes in 2.0 all the same. A search function was added, making Amp a lot more useful as a primary music player. The app is now on a truly freemium model, with a $3 price tag to turn off ads and unlock two new exclusive skins (also available for separate purchase at $0.99 each).
